The Secretary of State makes these Regulations in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 123(1)(a) and (d), 135(1), 136(3) and (5)(b), 137 and 175(1), (3) and (4) of the Social Security Contributions and Benefits Act 19921, sections 4(5), 12(1) and (4)(b), 35 and 36(2) of the Jobseekers Act 19952 and paragraph 1(1) of Schedule 6 to the Welfare Reform Act 20123.
This instrument contains only regulations made consequential upon section 1 of the Universal Credit (Removal of Two Child Limit) Act 20264 and is made before the end of the period of 6 months beginning with the coming into force of that section. Therefore, in accordance with section 173(5)(b) of the Social Security Administration Act 19925, these Regulations are not required to be referred to the Social Security Advisory Committee.
In respect of the provisions in these Regulations relating to housing benefit, in accordance with section 176(1) of the Social Security Administration Act 1992, the Secretary of State has consulted with organisations appearing to the Secretary of State to be representative of the authorities concerned.
