Perpetuities and Accumulations Act 2009
2009 c. 18An Act to amend the law relating to the avoidance of future interests on grounds of remoteness and the law relating to accumulations of income.

Be it enacted by the Queen's most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and Commons, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—

In section 15 of the Perpetuities and Accumulations Act 1964 (c. 55) the following subsections are inserted after subsection (5) (which makes provision as to the instruments to which the Act applies)—General¶

This Act does not affect the rule of law which limits the duration of non-charitable purpose trusts.I1919 Provision made otherwise than by instrument¶
If provision is made in relation to property otherwise than by an instrument, this Act applies as if the provision were contained in an instrument taking effect on the making of the provision.I2020 Interpretation¶
I2121 Repeals¶
The enactments mentioned in the Schedule are repealed to the extent specified, but subject to the provision at the end of the Schedule.22 Commencement¶
23 Extent¶
This Act extends to England and Wales only.24 Short title¶
This Act may be cited as the Perpetuities and Accumulations Act 2009.I22
