The Deaths, Still-Births and Baby Loss (2026 Act) (Commencement) Order (Northern Ireland) 2026

The Department of Finance, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 12(1) of the Deaths, Still-Births and Baby Loss (Northern Ireland) Act 2026¹, makes the following Order:

^I11 Citation¶

This Order may be cited as the Deaths, Still-Births and Baby Loss (2026 Act) (Commencement) Order (Northern Ireland) 2026.

^I22 Appointed Day¶

The appointed day for the coming into operation of the following sections of the Deaths, Still-Births and Baby Loss (Northern Ireland) Act 2026 is 23rd March 2026 –

a section 2 (Power to approve electronic means);

b section 3 (Giving certificate of still-birth directly);

c section 4 (Giving certificate of cause of death directly);

d section 5 (Giving certificate of registration, or written notice of death, directly);

e section 6 (Registration of particulars of still-birth);

f section 7 (Manner in which particulars of death are required to be given); and

g section 10 (Repeal of temporary provisions).
