A bill to Regulate the use of automated and algorithmic tools in decision-making processes in the public sector; to require public authorities to complete an impact assessment of automated and algorithmic decision-making systems; to ensure the adoption of transparency standards for such systems; and for connected purposes.
Be it enacted by the King’s most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and Commons, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—
1 Purpose of this Act¶
The purpose of this Act is to ensure that algorithmic and automated decision-making systems are deployed in a manner that accounts for and mitigates risks to individuals, public authorities, groups and society as a whole, and leads to efficient, fair, accurate, consistent, and interpretable decisions; and to make provision for an independent dispute resolution service.2 Systems to which this Act applies¶
